Cilantro and Route 66

Happy early New Year! Thank you for subscribing—I really appreciate it. I’m excited for this year and I’m honored that you’re along for the ride!

I’m going to start sending out emails on January 1st, but I wanted to give you a head start on something.

One of the things I’m going to try to do each month is read a book related to what I’m up to that month. All of you are welcome to read along as well! My plan is to write a bit about my reflections on the book. I’ll hopefully also be able to host some online discussions later in the month for any of you who decide to read along.

In January I’m going to be writing about my experiences harvesting cilantro with migrant workers and driving Route 66. I think The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is the perfect book to combine both of those experiences, so that’s what I’m going to be reading and writing about next month.

I’d love to have you read along with me, so drop me a note if you think you will! If you don’t get around to reading The Grapes of Wrath, don’t worry—I’ll be showing up in your inbox with plenty of other stuff for you to read.
